I've been knitting yet another coughing shirt for a friend's baby.
Yes, it's that time of the year...
Off it goes with the mail with a little sheep and a few treats.
I've been writing about those coughing shirts (Hustenleibchen) a while ago.
Someone asked me recently, what it is that makes these shirts... coughing shirts. I smiled. Probably the tradition, I replied.
Our kids will sometimes wear them all winter long to keep their chests warm.
But seriously, I would say it's the dense texture of the natural knitted yarn. The less treated the better. It's to do with the Lanolin the wool contains. Otherwise the shirts are very very simple.
And of course, it might be about the love that's put into them...
Many friends have asked me to knit for their kids as well. They swear the shirts work. I would to, but I can't knit as many as I would like. So at least, I am working on the pattern, that should be available next year!
[Happy to be having lots of lovely readers who want to test knit. Thank you! I am so looking forward to it!]
So long! Keep warm and healthy!
